Localisation means empowering local responders to lead and deliver humanitarian and development aid. It is aimed at strengthening the capacity and resources of local organisations to promote long-term sustainability. Localisation recognises the importance of local context knowledge and cultural understanding in providing effective and culturally appropriate aid. In this course, we look at localisation and equitable partnerships. We will discuss how historic trends and persisting attitudes can work against effective localisation, and we will learn how to build more equitable partnerships.
