Support in the development of individual staff members

MDF consultants can support you in your own development and in the development of your staff.

Team building and Team management

Team work is the key to success in many projects programmes and organisation. However, working in a team is sometimes considered a burden: too much talking with hardly any tangible result.

Building new teams

In order to make a team perform successfully, an insight in the positive and negative aspects of the team are important. MDF uses a team model that helps to detect a team's strong and weak points. Beside this model, MDF has developed tools to improve team performance. These tools are supportive for starting teams, but have also proven their value for longer existing teams.

Strengthening existing teams

We can assist existing teams that feel they got stuck or do not function as well as possible to find the sore spot, and provide solutions to get the team afloat again. MDF facilitators can guide the team through this process. Teams very often co-operate much better after such an intervention, having shared some painful moments and found the way out strengthens the team for successfully facing future obstacles.

Training needs assessment and development of training programmes

In the past, many training programmes were designed based on what trainers felt that was necessary for trainees to learn, rather than on the actual requirements of the participants in the course. Often the effect of the training programme was limited in terms of practical application and change in the participants working situation.

If training courses are based on a thorough training needs analysis, they have greater chances to succeed in improving the performance of the participants.

The steps in training needs analysis include: organisation analysis, task analysis (identifying the gap between the present and the desired performance) and determining the training needs (determining the gaps in knowledge, skills and attitude).

MDF can assist you to analyse training needs, with the use of interviews, observations, reports, questionnaires and workshops. MDF may help you to find a balance between what the manager observes as training needs, what the participants want to learn and what content wise needs to be included.
There may be other (organisational) reasons for non-performance than lack of knowledge, skills or attitudes. MDF can advice you on what issues could be dealt with through training and what issues might be better dealt with in other ways, e.g. coaching or re-design of procedures.

MDF bases its assistance in the development of training programmes on the principles of adult learning, following the adult learning cycle. Learning objectives are formulated based on the training needs analysis. These training programmes are result-oriented.

MDF can also support in evaluating a training programme and in organising follow-up activities to enhance learning in the workplace.
