A one week learning adventure offered by Motivaxion / MDF
Rural development is on the move in Europe and the Netherlands. Up until recently the focus was very much on
agricultural production. This is still crucial but other aspects have become important as well, such as protection of
natural environments, landscape development, agro-tourism, cultural heritage and recreation.
Rural areas in the Netherlands are going through dramatic changes. The influence of farmers is decreasing while the power of representatives in these other areas is increasing. The focus is more on quality and control instead of quantity and growth. Available subsidies are used for further developing aspects such as natural environments, landscape and recreation and less for stimulating agricultural development.
During this learning adventure on rural development participants will get an in-depth exposure to these developments. Together we will learn how rural policies are changing and what the consequences are at national, regional, local and farm level. We will work in the classroom but also in the field on location to see with our own eyes what the new policies mean. The final aim is to form useful visions and ideas for your own working situation back home.
Goals
The main goals of this 'learning adventure' on rural development are:
- Getting an exposure to trends and practises in rural development in the Netherlands
- Learning from theories and practises on rural development in the Dutch setting
- Taking home visions and practical ideas on rural development possibilities.
