MDF Experiences
Over the last years, MDF has built extensive experience in assisting the senior management of education institutes in strengthening their capacity to give leadership to their institute: strategic planning, teambuilding, financial management, developing human resources policy and setting up human resource systems & procedures, defining monitoring & evaluation systems, developing marketing strategies, introduction of competency based learning, etc. These processes are often accompanied by the (participatory) development of manuals which reflect newly defined policies, and/or rules and regulations for their implementation.
Since 2004, MDF is active in the project management and implementation of education projects. We are and/or have been the lead partner in 15 projects on Institutional Strengthening of Post-Secondary Education and Training Institutions (NPT). Currently, MDF is involved in 9 Capacity Building in Higher Education (NICHE) projects of which 6 are led by MDF. Both NPT and NICHE are funded by NUFFIC. Furthermore, MDF is active in other long and short term education consultancies funded by both national and international donors.
Our present work was inspired through the learning path that we followed, motivated by the above mentioned experiences and is in line with the mission of MDF to contribute to improved management and better organisation of development interventions that aim at improving the living conditions of disadvantaged groups.

- Improving the quality of education, research and community services in the field of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Marine sciences at eight Eastern Indonesian Higher Education Institutes, Indonesia.
- Support to the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of Ghana, Ghana.
- Design and development of a program for higher education and research on environmental education, Guatemala.

- Organisational, Human Resource capacity building and marketing at the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) in Rwanda.
- Strengthening the capacity of the College of Business Education, Tanzania.
- Institutional strengthening of the High Council for Reintegration (ACR) Colombia.
- Capacity building for the transformation of Colleges of Agriculture to Agricultural Training Institutes, South Africa (WUR/AERES, MDF)

- Evaluation of multiple TVET institutions and their programmes in several countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America funded by NGO's or bi-lateral organisations.
- Open entry and tailor made training courses on the concept of active learning methods, competency based education and labour market & education.
- Development of a manual to assist Dutch embassies in supporting skills development and TVET in partner countries, 2009, funded by DGIS.
- Support to the Educational Programme for Technical Professionalisation, Bolivia, 2004 – 2006 funded by DGIS.
- Modernisation of the Financial and Administrative System of the TVET sector, Slovenia, 2004-2006 funded by the Dutch EVD.
- Appui au Développement des Curricula du Lycée Technique Agricole Mèdji de Sékou, Bénin, 2006-2010.
- Capacity Building for Agricultural Policy Design and Analysis for the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (DAFRD), 2001-2002, Kosovo.
- Development of Quality Schools in Central America and Caribbean, 2000, Guatemala.
- Training on Guided Change Management for the senior staff of four Agricultural Colleges in South Africa (2006-2009) (ICATE project with WUR/PTC+).
