These and many other energisers are brougth together in our new publication: Break the Ice, Energise. The booklet contains over 60 energisers. Recent publications by MDF staff
Impact evaluation of development programmes
Ton Dietz (University of Amsterdam) and Sjoerd Zanen (MDF) propose to 'topple' the perspective of impact-evaluation and to make them participatory assessments. They recommend to replace (as the point of departure of evaluations) the programme- (=donor) perspective by the poverty question and the beneficiaries' points of view (their reality, language and logic) . An example of a recent 'participatory development assessment', cf Subjective truths (Ton Dietz, Francis Obeng, Jerim Obure, Fred Zaal) in : The Broker of 15 August 2009.
Cf Assessing interventions and change among presumed beneficiaries of 'development': a toppled perspective on impact evaluation; in: Paul Hoebink (ed) The Netherlands yearbook on International Cooperation (Van Gorcum 2009); pp. 145-163.
Knowledge management
Johan Lammers (MDF) presents the results of his cross-cultural study of the predictors of six types of knowledge behaviour. Research questions referred to ways in which knowledge in development organizations is sought, reflected upon, shared and documented by its staff. The main lesson is that the personal factors that play a role in knowledge management can be addressed and steered by effective (knowledge) leadership and a HRM system focused on knowledge management.
Cf The human factor in knowledge management for development: using theories from social psychology to investigate the predictor of knowledge behaviour in development organisations; in: Knowledge Management for Development Journal Vol.5, No.2, September 2009, 127-142.
