Mission and Approach
Management for Development Foundation South Asia is a BOI approved firm registered and located in Sri Lanka. MDF South Asia is part of a worldwide operating management training and consultancy bureau. Our mission is to enhance management capacities of professionals and organisations in the development sector in South and Southeast Asia by providing practical and experiential training and consultancy services on Operational Management, Strategic Steering and Management of Human Relations.
MDF South Asia delivers such training and consultancy services from our office in the outskirts of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Our training services include standard training courses, tailor-made courses, facilitation and workshops. These training activities are normally organised in hotel or conference facilities close to a "real life case". With regard to consultancy services MDF South Asia is active in most phases of the project cycle: identification, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development interventions.
MDF South Asia aims to blend modern management theory and tools with practical experience in development projects worldwide. Our approach in training as well as in consultancy is of a practical nature, rich in visual elements and characterised by participation.
Services
We deliver our services to clients belonging to a wide variety of organisations. These include donors, governments, non-government organisations and consulting firms, all involved in development interventions.
MDF South Asia trainers/consultants are specialists in their own particular fields and have practical experience in planning, implementing and evaluating of development projects. The staff is involved both in training and consultancy activities to ensure that they maintain a close link with day to day practice in the field. We believe that this way of working enriches the training courses and keeps MDF staff always at the forefront of development ideas and ensures their knowledge of best practices. MDF South Asia staff are professional people with initiative. They create good and sincere working relations with the participants in the courses and clients in the field.
However broad the scope of development, MDF's focus remains on aspects related to management. The MDF products and services are aimed at the strategic steering of organisations and sectors (ID/OS and ISOA), operational management of projects and programmes (PCM and PM), as well as personal behaviour of individuals, human relations and human resource management (MSC and HRM). When offering our services we look at these perspectives and their interrelations.
Staff and language
MDF South Asia employs 9 staff members. The professional trainers and consultants of MDF South Asia consists of both Asian and European staff. They each have their own specialisation and are experienced in one or more of the three fields of ID/OS, PCM and MSC.
The various courses and consultancies, all related to the above-mentioned topics are aimed at the different actors in the development sector: projects, governmental and non-governmental organisations, donors, private firms and individuals. We work in English, Sinhala and Tamil.
