MDF-ESA training/consultancy approach
Our approach in consultancy is informed by participatory and people-centred learning methodologies in which we the consultants as outsiders are facilitators and clients are the actors and analysts. Our training approach is one of experiential learning based on the Adult Learning Cycle and we aim at practical and applicable learning rather than academic teaching. We are convinced that people learn best when they analyse experiences, discover answers and solutions for themselves, have an opportunity to practice skills and apply new learning.
MDF-ESA offers tailor-made training, process facilitation, workshops and (one to one) professional development coaching in subjects related to management for development. Upon request, we design and adapt in close consultation with the client our existing training products and services to the needs and requirements of a client. All our regular courses and parts thereof as well as additional sector-specific courses are used as basis for tailor-made training and facilitation.
Such tailor-made courses, workshops and services are applied to initiate or support organisational change processes, increase specific skills amongst staff, enhance overall staff performance, improve team work or to introduce new methods or procedures. To facilitate such processes, MDF-ESA can provide the required trainer, on-the-job coach, advisor or moderator.

The methodology, approach and sequence in a process will be laid down in a proposal by MDF-ESA and decided upon by the client. The venue, workshop duration, group size (at most 18 so as to allow effective learning) and other logistics are advised by MDF-ESA and then selected by the client.
MDF-ESA offers all its tailor-made services in English. Upon request, our trainer/facilitators could also work in Kiswahili, French or Dutch.
