Capacity Development in Eastern and Southern Africa
Capacity development is at the core of development assistance provided in Africa. It is the process by which individuals, groups and organisations improve their knowledge, skills and attitude to perform their functions.
MDF-ESA believes in the potential of people to shape their own lives, and their environment. Our work is to strengthen the human capacity in development processes. We are doing so through training and consultancy.
MDF-ESA is active in the following fields:
CaBESA
CaBESA is a comprehensive package of tailor-made training, coaching and advice targeted to development organisations for capacity building of their staff in line with an organisational development plan. More information on CaBESA can be found on the following page: CABESA
Capacity development sounds simple and straightforward. However, when it comes to human and organisational development, it is all about people, how they learn, and apply their competencies during work. The work situation is therefore at the heart of our courses and consultancies. People are encouraged to exchange experiences and explore the opportunities they have, within their individual setting. Both our open entry and tailor-made courses are characterised by an open and personal atmosphere and the commitment of our trainers and support staff.
We keep our trainings up-to-date with reality in the field, through the consultancy assignments our staff carry out every year. MDF-ESA works in strategic planning, project identification, project formulation, the design of monitoring systems and evaluation assignments. Moreover, we advise a growing number of organisations on human resources development, institutional development and organisational strengthening. Our consultancy assignments are characterised by a personal and down-to-earth approach, which ensures the applicability of our advice.
